BigSound™ P5 Features:

P5.jpg

  • 16-bit Sound Reproduction
  • A 16-bit microprocessor is used to produce museum-quality sound Cannot be matched by an 8-bit solution
  • DCC Decoder Built-In
  • It isn't necessary to purchase a separate DCC decoder to trigger sounds like the whistle and bell on the P5 - this system works with all DCC systems that adhere to the NMRA spec (and even some that don't!). In fact The BigSound™ P5 was designed with the DCC user in mind.
  • up to 6 Watts Power
  • New amplifier strategy allows us to generate up to 6 Watts of power - depending upon the total input voltage supplied and the setting of the wattage limiter (which can adjusted with the computer interface). The default setting matches output of the P5 to that of the 2K2.
  • Advanced Protection Circuit
  • The actual output power is monitored by the processor to prevent speaker overload and to protect the sound board from shorted speaker leads.
  • Board Size
  • The board is 2.00 " x 0.875" x 0.4375" -- smaller than the BigSound™ 2K2 board.
  • All the effects of the 2K2...
  • The P5 system includes all the additional sound effect that were incorporated into the 2K2 such as coal loading and shoveling, water filling and many others
  • Extensive Sound Library
  • Over 60 sounds and growing.
  • Simple remote programming
  • No buttons to push or wires to configure. The P5 is 100% configurable from any personal computer using our simple computer interface.
  • Non-DCC remote control compatible
  • We realize that not every one uses DCC. So we have devised an add-on trigger board to enable non-DCC remote control systems, such as Locolinc, RCS and Train Engineer (along with many others) to use the P5 board. The P5T Auxiliary Input Board adds 6 analog triggers and two motor voltage inputs to the P5 system.

 BigSound™ 2K2 Features:             $265.00

BigSound

  • 16-bit Sound Reproduction
  • A 16-bit microprocessor is used to produce museum-quality sound Cannot be matched by an 8-bit solution
  • 2 Watts Power
  • Strong 2-Watt amplifier produces sufficient volume to be truly useable out-of-doors.
  • 3-Volt Low-speed Operation
  • Most sound units do a poor job at low power settings - meaning at low run speeds. Not so with the 2K2, it is fully operational at power settings as low as 3 Volts. There is usually some voltage loss from the track through the wheels and contacts to the board, so the track voltage may have to be 5 or 6 volts for continuous operation in order to keep the battery fully charged.
  • 7 Pins for External Control
  • 7 different pins provide flexibility for attaching external controls.
  • Advanced Circuit Protection
  • Not likely that you'll blow up a board from making a minor installation error.
  • BigBoost™ is on the board
  • No need to purchase a separate, slow-speed booster, it is on the board at no extra price.
  • Board Size
  • The board is 2.75 " x 1.00" x 0.50" -- smaller than the BigSound™ Model 97 board.
  • Built-in Battery Charger
  • No need to purchase an external battery charger. The battery is charged automatically by the 2K2.
  • Coal loading
  • The sound of coal being loaded into the tender from a chute on a coal loading tower.
  • Coal shoveling
  • The sound of coal being shoveled into the fire box by the fireman.
  • DCC Decoder Built-In
  • It isn't necessary to purchase a separate DCC decoder to control sounds like the whistle and bell on a 2K2 - a DCC decoder is built-in. NMRA Compliant.
  • Extensive Sound Library http://www.phoenixsound.com/library/library.html
  • Over 50 sounds and growing.
  • Labored Chuff
  • Ultra realistic labored chuff when a locomotive starts to climb a hill. Usually triggered from a track magnet.
  • Lineout for external amplification
  • Real-world applications can be achieved including high-volume amplification by using the low-noise lineout capability.
  • On/Off External Device Control
  • 2K2 can automatially turn any external device on or off.
  • Opto Isolation Not Necessary
  • Opto-isolation is not necessary when using the 2K2 with remote control.
  • Polyphonic Integration
  • Different sound-features are generated so that one does not distort the other For example, bell stands out clearly from the chuff.
  • Manual and Automatic Opeation
  • Manual and automatic operation can be achieved from the same board.
  • Simple remote programming
  • No buttons to push or wires to configure. The 2K2 is 100% configurable from any personal computer or using our simple computer interface.
  • Tunnel Fade
  • Configure for an ultra realistic fading of the chuff as the locomotive enters a tunne. Can be triggered from an appropriately placed track magner.
  • Voltage controlled whistle & bell
  • Bigsound 2K2 can be configured to allow the voltage to control the whistle and bell.
  • Water Filling
  • The sound of water rushing into the tender.
